The Gurdy Stone Zine

Documenting the standing of a stone with photos by Josh Hight, Designed and edited by Jimmy Cauty and Jem Finer (aka Local Psycho) with written contributions by, Jem Finer, Jimmy Cauty, Lally Macbeth, Marcia Farquhar, Matthew Clayton, Matthew Shaw,Richard Wilson. 62 pages in saddle stitched card wraps, 29.7 x 21 cm Comes with a 7″ flexi-disc recording of the Gurdy Stone Field Recording No.13, recorded in the field by Psy-Loco Mobile Recording Unit. On the eve of Mayday 2023 Jimmy Cauty and Jem Finer stood a standing stone in a field in East Sussex to mark the passing of the Green Comet (that had last passed earth 50,000 years ago) and the release of their new Local Psycho single The Hurdy Gurdy Song. In a ceremony on Mayday the Hurdy Gurdy Song was embedded into the stone, playing it directly into the rock using powerful transducers. This zine documents and celebrates these events. The Gurdy Stone can be visited on Saturdays from dawn to 1pm and some say if you press your ear against it The Hurdy Gurdy Song can still be heard reverberating down to the earth’s core.
