Description

Plenty for All: The Art of Rick Frberg offers a comprehensive look at the many chapters and layers of Frberg’s visual art practice. Spanning his entire creative life, the book examines each body of work in detail, presenting a clear, mostly chronological survey of his evolution as an artist. A central focus of the volume is the progression of Frberg’s line work and brushstroke, from the raw immediacy of his early drawings and paintings to his later embrace of digital tools. His artwork appeared widely on record covers for his own bands and for groups he encountered on tour, as well as in posters, flyers, ads, skateboard graphics, logos, and T-shirt designs. Over the years, his creative range expanded to include illustrations for magazines, books, and newspapers, along with regular exhibitions of his paintings, drawings, etchings, and prints. Plenty for All marks the first time Frberg’s visual art has been collected in book form. Fans around the world of Pitchfork, Drive Like Jehu, Hot Snakes, Obits, and beyond will find this an essential document of his creative legacy. Frberg’s art has influenced and inspired a wide community across both music and visual culture. Though he is deeply missed, this volume carries his legacy forward. The book includes short essays by curator Rich Jacobs and musician/artist Sohrab Habibion.
