Description

EERA’s third album, I’ll Stop When I’m Done, is a unique creation from a research-based perspective. The title is inspired by a Marilyn Monroe quote, “I won’t stop when I’m tired, I’ll stop when I’m done”, reflecting the album’s theme of intertwining the intimate and personal with broader reflections. It serves as a celebration of the female experience. The album’s inspiration stemmed from old black-and-white films, leading EERA to delve into the lives of iconic female film stars like Shirley Maclaine and Marilyn Monroe. This research is evident in tracks such as ‘Honey, do you see me’ and ‘I’ll stop when I’m done’, where the artist reflects on her own discoveries and conversations with these women. The title track, ‘I’ll stop when I’m done’, delves into themes of illusions of grandeur and vulnerability, ultimately questioning one’s true desires. Throughout the album, EERA explores the concept of a female muse as both relatable and complex, showcasing desires and vulnerabilities that are part of the rich tapestry of womanhood. Interwoven with these broader reflections are more personal tracks like ‘Celebrate’ and ‘Talking’, which touch on themes of female pressure and the complexities of love and relationships. The album, produced by Chris Taylor (Grizzly Bear) and recorded in Berlin and Barcelona, features a softer and more subdued sound, with warm percussion and upbeat intervals. For EERA, the recording process was a personal experience, with each song sung softly from a sofa to create a relaxed atmosphere. This approach reflects the artist’s belief that women often have to be brave and loud to be heard, creating a poignant contrast on the album.
