Ten years since it first came out, US independent music retailer, Rough Trade, are exclusively reissuing the soundtrack album for Frances Ha, the much-loved indie comedy drama by Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach. This highly collectable album features the music from the film, including four tracks from classic film scores by composer Georges Delerue, Paul McCartney’s “Blue Sway,” David Bowie’s “Modern Love,” T. Rex’s “Chrome Sitar,” and more. Reissued in a gorgeous Neon Pink vinyl, this edition is only being made available here in the US, a very limited 500 pressing, and is available to buy now, exclusively at Rough Trade US. Frances (Greta Gerwig) lives in New York, but she doesn’t really have an apartment. Frances is an apprentice for a dance company, but she’s not really a dancer. Frances has a best friend named Sophie, but they aren’t really speaking anymore. Frances throws herself headlong into her dreams, even as their possible reality dwindles. Frances wants so much more than she has but lives her life with unaccountable joy and lightness. Frances Ha is a modern comic fable in which Noah Baumbach explores New York, friendship, class, ambition, failure, and redemption. One of the film’s most memorable moments revolves around David Bowie’s “Modern Love.” The song appears in a pivotal sequence where Frances hurtles and dances down a crowded New York street. Gerwig explains that the song fit perfectly with the movie. “Great pop music, when it’s over, you just want to play the song again right away,” says Gerwig. “We talked about wanting the movie to feel like a pop song.
